![]() ![]() You are trying to defeat a weapon designed to destroy you. Fighting a battleship in a cruiser is like attacking AA batteries in an aircraft. It is according to the developer's balance scheme that cruisers be countered, HARD, by battleships. In a straight duel, it is obvious that the battleships outclass the cruisers, forcing cruisers to use their superior agility, and bypassing the armor through the use of HE, hoping for fires.ģ. The armor is also very thick, with the Montana's 409mm belt armor being one number off the top of my head. Battleships' SMALLEST guns are 11" on the Scharnhorst, up to 18.1" on the Yamato. Cruisers have at most 8" guns, and armor no thicker than 150mm, except on turrets.ī. Lets look at the physical characteristics of both types.Ī. It is the nature of things, and there is no changing that.Ģ. It's like crying over a rabbit when it is eaten by a fox. So quit whining when your precious cruiser gets deleted by a battleship. With this in mind, navies around the built battleships to dominate lighter cruisers, and/or to counter a rival navy's own battleships. I am really reaching back into history here, but the battleships all began with Mahan's theory of how a war would be won by a single decisive naval battle, and how said battle would be won by heavily armed and armored ships( a.k.a. The entire point to the existence of battleships was to be able to dominate anything not packing massive guns and heavy armor. Although, I do have a bit of an axe to grind with all the cruiser captains who say that I shouldn't use my battleship to defeat them.ġ. I am about to list several reasons why cruisers are supposed to be food for battleships, and no, I am not some baBBy crying HE op, or torps op. ![]() I am simply fed up with every single player thinking that cruisers should be able to fight battleships and have a good chance of winning. ![]()
